# Ray and Google Calendar

> What is scheduled, when people are free, and the meeting booked into the gap.

Ray is an AI teammate that works in your team chat, on Slack today. Connect Google Calendar and it can do the Google Calendar part of a request without anyone leaving the conversation: read what it needs, draft the change, and post it for approval before anything is written. 8 reads run without asking. 2 actions wait for a human approval.

## What Ray reads in Google Calendar

Reading changes nothing, so Ray never stops to ask whether it may look something up.

- Calendars and the events on them
- When people are free, and the gaps a meeting fits into

## What waits for your approval

Every one of these posts an approval card in the thread showing exactly what is about to happen. Nothing runs until someone clicks approve, and no setting turns that off.

- Create an event, with the time and the guest list on the card
- Update an event

## Things Ray is never handed

These are left out during curation, so they are not something Ray could do and decides against. They are not in front of it at all.

- Delete an event, or take someone off one
- Add or remove a calendar, or change who can see it

## Ask it like this

- "@Ray when are Priya and I both free on Thursday?"

## Connecting Google Calendar

Every person on the team connects their own Google Calendar account on Google Calendar's own login screen, so Ray can only reach what that person can already reach, and the history in Google Calendar shows who actually asked. Passwords never pass through Ray. Disconnecting Google Calendar or uninstalling Ray revokes the connection.
