# Connect Zapier

Ray curated 130 integrations by hand. For every other tool, a
workspace can connect its own Zapier account, and Ray can run the actions that
someone turns on there. Every one of those actions waits for a person to
approve it, including the ones that only read.

## What this is

Ray is an AI teammate that works in Slack. Its own integrations are curated:
each one has a reviewed set of tools, and reads inside them run without
stopping to ask. Zapier covers the long tail instead. Nobody at Ray reviewed
those actions, so Ray treats them as untrusted by default and asks before every
single call.

## How a workspace connects it

1. Ask Ray to connect Zapier, in any thread. Ray replies with a Connect button.
2. Press it. Zapier's own setup opens on heyray.io, where you sign in and turn
   on the actions Ray may run. Ray never sees your Zapier password.
3. Ask for the work. Ray shows the action and the exact values it will send,
   then waits. Nothing runs until a person approves it.

## What stays true

- Every bridged action waits for approval, reads included.
- Ray can run only the actions someone turned on. It cannot see the rest of
  your Zaps, and it cannot add an action for itself.
- One connection covers the whole workspace, the way a shared API key does.
  Any member can connect it, and an admin or the person who connected it can
  disconnect it.
- A tool from outside describes itself to Ray, and Ray passes that description
  along as a quote rather than as an instruction to follow. The same goes for
  whatever the tool answers.

## Where a curated integration is still better

Where Ray has its own integration, use that one. Reads run without asking, the
fields are named in Ray's own words, and Ray knows the shape of the data before
it calls. Ray also cannot say what it will find in Zapier until the connection
exists, because the actions are yours to choose, and it will not guess at them.

You need a Zapier account, free or paid. Ray offers this on every plan, like
every other integration.
