What Ray asks for, and why
You are about to give an AI access to a workspace. Here is the whole list, in plain English, before you see the consent screen.
Read the conversations you invite it to
Ray sees a channel only after someone adds it. It cannot read anything else in your workspace.
- Hear you when you mention it
- Follow the thread it is working in, so follow-ups make sense
- Answer in a DM when you would rather not fill a channel

Reply, and ask before it acts
Everything Ray sends is attributed to Ray. It never posts as you or as anyone else.
- Reply in thread, and post the approval card you click to authorize an action
- Acknowledge with a single reaction when a reply would just be noise

Find its way around
Enough to act on what you said without asking you to paste an ID.
- Know who is speaking, so “assign it to me” reaches the right person
- Turn “post it in #product” into the actual channel
- Join a public channel when you ask it to, never on its own

What Ray never asks for
Each of these is a permission Ray could have requested and deliberately does not.
- Your team’s email addresses
- Your files, or anything in them
- Any admin power over your workspace
- Permission to act as you, rather than as itself
- Channels nobody invited it to
- Deleting messages, files, or anything else
What happens after you click
There is nothing to migrate and nothing to configure. Most teams are running a real task inside five minutes.

Approve it in Slack
Slack shows you the permissions below and asks you to confirm. If your workspace requires an owner to approve new apps, Slack sends them the request instead.

Invite Ray to one channel
Type /invite @Ray where your team already works. Ray sees that channel and nothing else, so you can start somewhere low stakes.

Give it something real
Mention it with an actual task. “@Ray file that as a bug in Linear.” It will connect the tool with one click and show you the ticket before it creates anything.
Ray is an AI teammate, so it can get things wrong.
That is the whole reason it works this way. Nothing sensitive happens without your click, and there is no setting that turns that off.
- You approve every action
- Before Ray sends, creates, or changes anything, it posts a card showing exactly what it is about to do, and waits.
- You control what it remembers
- Ask it to forget one thing, switch memory off, or purge all of it. The purge asks the team for approval first.
- You can take it all back
- Uninstalling stops Ray immediately, revokes every connected tool, and deletes your data after 30 days.
